The loofah, also known as the luffa, starts off as a fruit that is generally grown in Asia and Egypt. The loofah arrived in the Americas over 10,000 years ago, and was known as an "Old World Plant" due to its origins from the far east. If picked early, the loofah can even be eaten when small and green. However, when mature and dried, the fibrous fruit becomes the form that we see in our bathrooms.
Our Manta Cotton is a favorite among many indigenous groups in Guatemala, and we have certainly learned from the best. Traditionally used to make men’s shirts known "guayaberas", this natural cotton fiber is strong, more loosely woven and aerated for cooling. It is known locally as “wild cotton” and is absolutely natural, unbleached organic cotton. It's the perfect material to rely on.
